Hehehehehehehe
sorry guys had to do it.

if i bought another race casr it would be a dsm.
i have have been noticing this black
93-94 at the gym. maybe ill get a car for tampa??yeah right.
i want awd street traction dammit.
i remember a while back ago i was at extreme
or another dsm place. they had 4g63 race
motors for 2000+/- dollars. if i recall correctly they said something to the effect of 25 psi. it makes me wonder? buying a turd box awd with a bad motor or major miles.
swap in one of those shortblocks add a good turbo.upgrade the fuel system ect ect ect.
in all of your opinions what would it cost to build a loww 11 sec 1st gen dsm.

Yeah - GO HONDA!

Seriously though I hope emodsm replies to this. He is a dsm person considering something nice for his Honda and it would be interesting to see what he would have to say about this.

Nothing agaist DSMers here (please dont take it the wrong way) but have you looked at Subarus?

We have all been looking at Subarus. They are real nice. Problem is we dont know enough about them. What kind of power can the drivetrains handle? I personally dont want a weaker drivetrain than I already have! Besides Im not getting rid of my DSM for any reason in the forseeable future. I love her too much.

Cornish I honestly think that if you had in the right place at the right time syndrome you could put together an 11 second DSM for 5-6 grand. Realistic market prices youd probably have to spend near $8000 and do a lot of work yourself for a LOW 11 sec DSM. Its hard to gues but adding quick figures in my head thats what I got. Too bad I started with an $8900 car... so Im on my way to about $15000 now.... but when the bolts go back into my baby i should see some 11s.

as far as buiding a low 11 sec dsm..i am really not sure money wise but i think joe is pretty damn close Its all about getting stuff used for us to build a cheap car... www.thepartstrade.com you also have to be willing to wait for the right stuff i.e....my roomate has gotten vpc msd dis2 upper i/c pipeing off the parts trader and saved alot of$...imho if i was seriously looking to build a fast dsm for me starting off with the right platform a 92 1/2 to 94 would be my choice..especialy if you were planing to put a new engine in right away. the 921/2 to the 94 have better drive line( these items cost lost of $and 4bolt rear end is a must have for mid 12 or faster) but have a little bit smaller rod than the 90-early 92(not to mention a few other better things)

As far as me doing something nice to the crx well ...the idea of car payment after the eclipse is paid off is not all that appealing( more mod money for the eclipse) but i need something a little bit more enjoyable to drive than the way the crx sits now so that is something i am seriuosly thinking about if the $$ vs what i will end up with seems good to me that said though i love my awd and dont see that ever changing so the dsm will be here to stay as the race car!

The wrx all i can say is kick ass!! 4sfed4 had some dealer propaganda on thurs. night the factory i/c is huge and the car looks kick ass. 4sfed even said that there is rumors that the factory is going to offering a upgrade chip to put it at 280 vs the factory 227. Joe i think we will have to wait and see about the driveline stuff but all they build is awd cars my hope is that all the exeriance will pay off in that!.I can tell you though now that the Mother mitsubishi has left us out to dry with bastardizing of the eclipse i think you will see alot of dsm people move towards the subaru( you cant go to a dsm bb and not see something about the wrx)

Mid 11s out of a big rod motor is fairly easy. Can be done on the stock block and rods. All bolt ons except cams.

20G frank or T3/T4 turbo and ext wastegate. aprox $1200
FMIC $900
full 3 $750
fuel pump $110
660cc injectors $440
fuel control $300
air filter $45
boost control $65
2600# clutch $330
cams $500
Misc gauges. $250
maybe some sticky tires...yes you may have traction problems at this level even in a AWD. $400
ARP head studs (the big secret to running 25psi and a mitsu 4 layer head gasket YAY GO OEM MITSU PARTS...hehe had to Denise $175

Mybe a little port work here and there but probably wouldnt NEED to touch the head. All of this should put you in the high to mid 11s. Low 11s come from more port work sheet metal intake things of this nature. 20G has gone 10s maybe hard but it has been done. Hell you could get a T3/T4 for the price of a good frank and external gate.

Price it out if you like on the various web pages. But this should get a well tuned 1G AWD car into the 11s easily. Pushing 120 MPH traps.

There that outta do it. Need more examples let me know.

Staged upgrade path from Buschur racing.

For the most part the rest are overpriced. Esp extreme motorsports.

P.S. its http://www.thepartstrader.com you jackass.

Thats more than OK! One thing that Mitsus and Hondas have in common I suppose! Gotta love interchangable parts across the board. Hell I only had 1.6 litres of displacement stock block and CR stuck in some misc Honda OEM things in the head and she ran a 13.6. Not bad for a daily driver/beater-grocery getter! (See what you can do with all OEM Honda parts emodsm!)

Gotta love when the car manufacturer makes things easy on ya!

So speaking of Subaru (since this is really the only place on TR to talk about AWD) anyone have any experience WHATSOEVER with drivetrain or any aspect of these vehicles? Yes all they make are AWDs so they have to at least be RELIABLE...but that new WRX is looking mighty nice eh? And for a while there while your miles are still low - pull off those aftermarket parts and you got yourself a WARANTY (cant beat that!). Ive seen i-club (the imprezza owner BB) but of course they wont speak a word of evil about their cars. Their arent really many FLA owners as opposed to up north owner I suppose so I dont know who to talk to...
