our cars are designed to recirculate. what that means is that there should be a hose running from the bov to the intake pipe. the MAF takes into consideration the air that "leaks" from that bov and figures out the ratio of fuel to add to match that air. if the air is not present in the system, for example if you dont let the air from the bov BACK into the intake, the car adds fuel for air that isnt there, and therefore the idle is not very good, and/or acceleration is choppy.

in some cases, it doesnt have any effect on the cars performance. but more than likely, your rough idle could be caused by that, and the dying after revving it up almost solidifies the theory.

ok i understand what your saying the only hose off the hks bov is what goes to the intake manifold. it has no other hose to go to the air intake pipe so basically what your saying is the hks bov does not work with are cars go back to 1g bov.

well.... you can do what you want. We don't even know for sure that the bov is the problem. Did you plug the air intake pipe? if thats open still, you could possibly plug/cap it and that might fix the problem.

you could get a gm-maf setup, and then you would be able to run an open bov.

did you cap the air intake pipe, where the original hose from the bov is supposed to go to?

Yeah, either buy the recirc kit for it, or slap on a 1G and call it a day. You definently need the recirc kit for the HKS SSQBOV on our cars. Also, is the BOV itself seated properly? Do you have the red gasket ring installed properly underneath the bov and the c-clip installed properly? Also make sure that the connection on the flange of the I/C pipe is nice and tight.

As the others have said, you may have leaks elsewhere too. Hopefully this is the problem spot though.
