Default Difference in turbos...

Curious on how I can tell the difference in a 14b and a 16g. Guys I've talked to said you can tell by the fins, 16g having double fins and a 14b only having single fins. Any help would be great.

Its a 14b. Google is your friend. Just type the numbers from your compressor cover on google and it will come up and tell you everything.

Thanks John. The guy that gave it to me in a trade keeps telling me it's a 16g. This is the PM he sent me after I told him I found it was a 14b. The picture below is the one he sent to me before the trade. Guess I should have learned turbos before purchasing them on here

dude you can ask anyone on here ive been i member since 2005 never had any problems either and that is a 16g ask anyone and dont believe your friends into believing bullshit lies bro because the turbo is in great condition i took it off my car running

The second turbo that you posted has a different compressor cover on it with a different number. I just looked up that number and that number comes back being a BIG 16g. If the second pics under his PM is the one you have, then that is a 16g.

49178-01030 = 14b
49178-01420 = big 16g
49178-01460 = evo II 16g
49178-01470 = evo III 16g

Here is a great catelog with pretty much every single mitsu turbo known to mankind. TurboMaster - Catalog - mitsubishi - TDO5H
