worked on the car
i did some work on the car saturday morning, which wasnt great because i had a hangover, but it had to be done.
i replaced the gasket between the turbo oil return line and the oil pan. it only had a cereal box gasket in there, but it was still leaking. so i took it out and put a real gasket in, and siliconed around it.
did an oil change, obviously. also threw a can of 4 cylinder RESTORE. i figured it wouldnt hurt.
tightened up the bolts that connect the wastegate housing to the downpipe. this was a pain in the ass, because the bolts were in upside down, and had cotter pins in them!!! so i had to unbolt the turbo. well this wasnt happening, so i had to leave it connected to the manifold and unbolt the manifold from the head. also had to unbolt the wastegate housing from the turbo and was finally able to get in there.
i have one question, when i was under the car, i noticed there are 2 wires coming off the of the oil pump/filter housing area. there is one wire that goes into the back of the assembly, and another one that is held up by a screw. if you can understand that let me know what both of those wires are but ill try to take a picture to show you what i mean. i know one is the oil pressure gauge, the other(one held up by a screw) was broken off, and i connected it again. i havnt noticed any differences in ride or gauge differences.

hmm... well it fell off. maybe thats why the light never comes on. or came on before. you know what, the light never came on before. i started up my car today, and i thought it looked like one too many lights lit up at first, but then i just forgot about it. now that i think about it, maybe it is the oil light.
