Default DSM link owners please help

ok so i recently purchased a used link setup. and heres what i got ..an eprom ecu chipped and a plug. now i spoke to the previous owner and he said the plug is what i need and all i have to do is buy a serial cable. the plug is the one that goes into the obd2 slot and on the other end its a female end to a serial cable. but i read on the dsmlink site where it says you need the whole cable. now i need to know was he telling the truth is that plug all i need. please tell me i didnt get fucked.

if all you need is a cable then id say you were alright. as far as i know, the cable has the male end for the obd2 port, and the other end plugs into a laptop. im pretty sure thats all there is to it.

hehehehehee! i thought the same thing when i opened my black box from DSMLink!

The cable and clutch wire are all that is missing. (assuming that the DSMlink chip is installed.) You dont NEED the clutch wire so you should be good. I think it is only for NLTS.

hes not talking about the clutch wire, hes talking about the cable that runs to the computer from the obd2 port. and im pretty sure you can use any old cable, i think the connector is the part that matters.

If i remeber correctly, you need the cable that comes FROM dsmlink. Any cable wont work. I dont think they will sell you just a cable either, unless you can get the previous owner to talk to tom and work it out. There are a few people that have blackmarket dsmlinks out there.
