Fat Joe made me do it!!!
What do you guys think about making the rear seats of a 2g recline?
I mean, the only thing that blocks them from going back is that little hook, and the curve in the floor of the hatch, but if those were taken out, would it be possible?
I'm sure you'd have to have some type of custom stopping mechanism so you could adjust how far back you go, but like I said, if you somehow remove those parts that block it from going backward, would it be possible?

Why in Gods name would you?
Who the hell is going to sit in the back seat of an eclipse and say "man if these seats reclined I would be sooooo comfortable."
Spend your money elsewhere...

This is Mitsu Tech. There is no God here. But to answer your question, read the name of the thread...
Reclining back seats are going to eventually be standard. Shit, the Lexus LS470 has reclining, heated, massaging seats.
If anyone has ever sat in the back seat of an Eclipse, I'm sure they've thought, "Man, I wish I had more room" or "Damnit, my head keeps hitting the roof!" Well, unfortunately, you can't slide the seat back, and you can't lay down because of the hump, so the only other alternative would be to somehow recline...
But thanks for the help, chulo.

anything is possable with enough money, and yea i totaly understand about the hitting the roof in the back of the eclipse
the only problems are if you lean back when lets say it noon, then the person ends up with the sun beaming down on them, threw the hatch glass.
also what good is being able to lean back if your feet are pined under the seat of the people in front of you? we all know there is no leg room eather,
and also in order to get the seats to recline you would have to get rid of the lil lump between the seats and the rest of the trunk which is part of the sub frame and add stiffness to the chassie of the car, and also the strut towers would have to be worked around.
in reality its not that hard to pull off, but your not gonna get the kind of comfort that your thinking, if anything i think i would feel strange sitting like that in the back of an eclipse,
so it can be made to work, but how well and why even try is all a matter that is up to you.

my 2006 avalon has the reclining seats and they are nice ill admit that but honestly when it comes to having people in the back seat i have yet to find a girl that fits her legs behind my seats. Hitting your head is the last thing your worrying about when you have to sit Indian style. Just my opinion. If you figured out a way to make the seats recline and have the ability to be removed that would be awesome, Good quick way to kill some weight at the track.

I'm not talking about La-Z-Boy reclination (is that a word?)
I mean just 20* or so...enough so that the people in the back don't have to hit their head on the roof, and they don't have the front seats' headrests 2 inches from their face.

Everybody likes to lean back just a lil' bit...whoa, two song references in one sentence! But seriously, if it's cheap and easy, like something as simple as relocating the latches, why not?
