Default please help my dsm broke down again

ok so heres the scenario;

first, out of nowhere, my car wouldnt be getting any power when it was off (i.e. when the doors are open and the key isnt in it the interior lights are supposed to come on. or when you open the trunk the trink lights come on.) and when you turn the key to accessory nothing would happen either. (usually as you know the guages would turn on and you would have power for the windows, radio, wipers, etc.) but i could start the car and everything would work.

next, when driving the car the lights would click and flicker when i touch the brakes. like the brakes were shorting out the circuit.

then, i was driving and my car started bogging out and it just died. no more power. wouldnt start. couldnt even roll up my windows.

now, i know it isnt the battery because its a brand new red top. and i know it isnt the alternator belt because my water pump was working fine. im guessing the alternator but i dont know. i relocated the battery to the trunk. the way the lights would almost short out when i hit the brakes makes me think that its wiring. but i dont know. i hope it isnt anything too serious.

and i dont know if i should start a different thread for this but has anyone figured out a good way to deaden the sound of a 255 walbro with a rewire kit? its loud as hell man. my dog goes ape shit everytime he gets into that thing.

thank you, dale

any response will be greatly appreciated.

BTW heres a pic of my rebuild. out with the 7 bolt and in with the 6.

I would start with the battery in your trunk. Sounds like a short to me, one or maybe more then one. I would start at the battery... you do have an ignition fuse there atleast I know on 1g's there's a box on the positive terminal that has 3 different fuses. I believe if the ignition fuse is bad/blows, you won't be able to roll up your windows, start your car, etc. Check that, then check your terminals... make sure none are loose. Check the wires off the terminal make sure none are loose. Check you ground(s).

Also did it start doing this after you relocated the battery to the trunk?

thats weird about the fuel pump being loud, I have a 255 high pressure and I can't hear it AT ALL

/\ +1 Start with the fuse. If nothing was working until the car is on, sound to me like your car was running off your battery and died due to lack of charge. If fuse is good, check your alternator itself. I also have a 255fuel pump and it's just alittle humming sound. I don't even notice it now.

when checking the fuse make sure you REALLY check it good, we had one that died but it looked fine until we actually removed the little clear plastic lens, it had broke at the base which could not be seen through the top.
