Did some tuning on the butt dyno tonight...
retard in timing = knock, correct?
yea, i thought a datalogger showed knock retard, but i guess it doesnt. screw a logger then. i dont know what to tell you though. i guess just get a wideband and make a safe a/f ratio without too much boost. if you wanna make good power, you should just save for dsmlink.

Yeah. The problem with 2g datalogger is you don't get many points to see what is really going on. Don't get me wrong, it definately is must have tool. When you log with a datalogger for a 2g, the things you want to log is rpm, timing and O2. If you have a wideband, you can hook it up to the EGR wire harness and track along with RPM and timing.
So you can see what your timing is doing with the rpm.

i meant. seeing a retard in timing = you're having knock
Weird dips in timing are usually knock. You should be able to tell what a smooth timing curve looks like from baseline runs then as you turn it up you'll see knock dips. The 2g curve is a smooth progression to peak at redline unlike the weird 1g curve so it works out decently.
I'd just spend the extra cash on DSMlink, though.
