Default wideband

I'm looking to buy a wideband o2 sensor, preferably digital(their all digital aren't they?).

I was wondering, which should I get? What is the popular one that you dsmer's are using that works the best? I got about $300 to spend on this, kinda wanting to stay within $200-250 though. any opinions and/or links would be great, thanks!

also, is it true that the probe has to be mounted into the exhaust manifold right in front of the number 1 cylinder? I have the evo3 exhaust manifold and it has a little hex nut/bolt on the far drivers side of the manifold. I heard that the probe is supposed to go there for the most accurate reading.

no the probe goes in the o2 housing if you like, or supposedly a better spot is a bung welded a little farther down like in the downpipe. i have a plx and its good but its like 300 bucks. never had a problem with it though.

That is the EGT probe that goes in the exhaust manifold.
If you have a 2g put the wideband 02 sensor in the rear 02 bung. Or you can have a bung welded in at any exhaust shop for 20 bucks or less. I wouls put it right after the flex section i the down pipe. You can try the 02 housing but some people have problems with the sensor getting to hot and always reading lean. Its hit and miss with different brands. I have a aem uego wideband and it works very well for me. I have also heard good things about the NGK wideband and it is pretty cheap.

is this a good one, and/or is this the one some of you were talking about?

AEM UEGO Widebands
OVER STOCKED!!! WE HAVE LOWEST PRICE ANYWHERE GUARANTEED!!!

NEW! Included black and silver bezels, black and white AFR gauge faces and black Lambda gauge face allow you to personalize the look of your gauge!

NEW! Switch between AFR or Lambda readout with a twist of a switch (included face plate change is required for proper readout)

NEW! Quick-Connect system eases installation by allowing users to mount the gauge and sensor wiring separately

This is the newest wide-band from AEM. The controller for the wide-band is actually built right into the 52mm guage itself. Everything is plug and play. This unit is awesome.

AEM's wide-band UEGO includes all of the features found in their standard wideband unit. This includes a 0-5V output signal for feedback control to your ECU. AEM's gauge-type wideband UEGO controller features an LED readout and sweeping LED "needle" that changes colors as AFR changes from lean to rich. This standard size gauge fits in most gauge pods and can be remotely mounted virtually anywhere.

Features & Benefits:
1.) 24 Color-coded LED display lights provide immediate reference to engine's air/fuel ratio (AFR) or Lambda (11.0:1 to 17.0:1)
2.) Integrated three-digit display reveals AFR or Lambda in real time (10.0:1 to 18.5:1)
3.) User-programmable 0-5v analog output included for use with data loggers and ANY engine management system
4.) Ideal AFR monitoring tool for carbureted applications and engine dynamometers
5.) Does not oscillate AFR like narrow band sensors
6.) Serial data stream included for output of AFR (RS 232)
7.) Accurate to 0.1 AFR
8.) Bosch sensor included

I like the plx wideband one because it can also has an narrowband output. That way the ecu sees exactly what the wideband sees and you can eliminate your OE sensor. I don't know if you get any power from plugging the whole on your o2 housing but at least it looks cleaner. You can get them on ebay for 265 shipped.

Go AEM, they fit a standard 2 and 1/8 round bezel. I have my sensor installed in the rear of my downpipe where the second o2 would go.
