Power Steering
Aight I was goin to are storage this morning and steering and everything was still perfect workin i pull up to the storage gate get inside the gate and the parking lot is flooded and its pourin down hardcore i get down where i have to turn and my steering went out and all my dash lights came on but my car was still running and everything i get out to see if my belt broke or somethin cause its been squeling like a stuck hog for a while now the belt wasnt broken or anything but when i resarted the car everything started movin and workin right but i get around the corner it goes out so im sittin there tryin to figure out and im sittin there and my sis is turnin the wheel for me and when the wheel started to turn the the pulley stopped movin and the belt kept goin so i guess its power steering pump swap and i was just wonderin if anyone else had that prob lmk
What kind of car year, make, and model? I would inspect the belt as well and the pulley and the tension. If its the 420a motor (95-99 Eclipse GS/RS or 95-97 Eagle Talon ESi) I would check the tensioner and pulley. Give us some more info on the car.
Its a 95 gst and yeah the car was still runing but all the warning lights and lights were on like the ones that are on before you start up and i know for sure that its the power cause when i turned the whell you could see the power steering box lock up
Damn same shit happened to my car. I dont mean to bash your thread but I just had the same problem, alot of squeaking for a couple days and all of a sudden the power steering completley goes out. So I had to get a $16 belt from AAP that went around the alternator, water pump and power steering belt. Now the car runs fine but squeals wherever I go and it sometimes goes away. I put some WD40 to stop the squealing but nothing worked as of yet. Im gonna check the alternator pulley and how its positioned tonight, if the pulleys not straight and lined up right, your shit will squeal.
