Anybody ever done it on a 2G? I cant tell you last time ive used it and i really want to clean up the engine bay. Just remove the compressor and condensor and all the lines everywhere. Anybody done it before? Any regrets?

Since you seem like you dont use it, rip it out. Ive never missed ac in any of my cars that didnt have it.

 

If you take it out it sucks when it rains. Also, AC is a must on long highway trips. Windows down at 75 mph is grating over several hours of driving.

Other than that, rip it out. The only time I drive my car on the interstate is to get to the track and I usually don't drive my car when it rains anyway. I used my AC less than ten times in 2006.

 

My point exactly, i very rarely ever use it, i ride with the windows down and sunroof open mostly, and i try not to take it on any road trips longer than 3 hours. My biggest concern is that once i take it out, i will really miss it if i ever need it. And if i do take it out, will it fuck anything up if my g/f accidently turns it on or something, or will it blow, just not very cold?

 

wont mess anything up. just blow hot air. unless you remove the blower motor , then nothing will happen when turned on

 

just a heads up since you asked about regrets, if you have a girlfriend, most females wont ride in a car w/out a/c in the summer time so thats something you may want to think about.......so, will you removing it now be worth the complaining/bitching from her later?

the question is how long have you not used ac and had a complaint to turn it on? it doesnt rain down here long enough to worry about having ac in the rain, crack a damn window and suck it up.

 

Good point. I cant tell you how many times ive heard, " can i PLEASE put the window up? Its messing up my hair!"

Got to looking at how i would go about taking it all off and it looks to be more of a pain in the ass than its worth, but we'll see.

 

very true!every girl i have ever put in my clipse(with out a/c )has hated it thats one reason its going back in.

 

Not a problem here. I gave up on any girl ever wanting to ride in my car a long time ago . I'll eventually have a plastic drag seat as a passenger seat and an 8 point roll bar with harnesses if I keep my car, so missing AC is small potatoes.
