Default car wont start

Ok, for the last couple days ive been messing with the tps and throttle body area. i know i havnt messed up any sensors. anyways its been idling really high. today at lunch i took it all apart again and sprayed wd-40 on the plate and spring, put it back together to find that the throttle plate stays slightly open. i also adjusted the tps a little too. ok thats just background story....

i was checking what the throttle position was on the afc. the car was off. i have the afc right in front of my shifter, below the radio. the shifter was in the way, so i moved the shifter down to 4th. ok throttle is stuck open a little bit whatever. lunch was over so i go back to work, forgetting and leaving the car in gear.

i come out later and remote start the car like i always do(clutch switch is disabled). i had the parking brake on, and when the car started it jerked forward a little bit in the startng process, never actually starting. i immediately remembered that it was in gear and i stopped the auto-start. got in the car, and put it back in neutral. put the key in to try and start, nothing. i hear one loud click, but nothing else. radio and everything comes on fine, so i know it wasnt battery. Some guys from work gave me a push start and it started up and ran fine, minus the ANNOYING high idle. I got home, shut the car off, and tryed to start again, nothing. just one loud click. What could have happened to make the car not start? could a fuse have blown, and if so, whch one could it be? I have a feeling it has something to do with starting it when it was in gear. ive accidently remote started it when it was in 1st before, and it stalled again, but still ran fine after. could 4th gear have been teh problem?

i dont want to admit it, but i think it might be the starter. either way, sounds like im driving the kia to work.

ps: this late 40ish y/o guy at work was talking shit about my car, and how he was gonna slash my tires. he jokes around about that kinda stuff, but i dont think he would do anything. he left earlier than i did, about 5 minutes earlier. my car is lowered and had doors locked with alarm on. could someone with a less than moderate amount of experience with cars, not really imports, mess up the starter or anything else relating to starting under those circumstances in only 5 minutes?

oh and another thing, when we push started the car and it ran, it still had check engine light on, as usual. its the tps throwing a code. I just wanted to mention the cel because i know if an ecu goes, the car will have running problems, and wont show any cel correct? if you guys could help that would be awesome! thanks

well if was trying to start when it was in 4th gear, then it wouldnt start anymore after that, then that means nobody had messed with it. check the fuse for the starter wherever it might be. probably in the engine bay fuse box they are all labeled

yea i didnt think anyone messed with it, but i was just trying to rule that possibility out. ill check the fuse, but the fuse box on the passenger side ddoesnt have the starter fuse in it. should i look for the MPI fuse?

ok check htis out. when i go to start the car with the key, it clicks once, pretty loud. so i just went out and tried the remote start, and it made this sound like those locked doors in apartments, where they have to hit the buzzer for the door to unlock. it sounded like that buzzer noise. it made the sound for about 1 second, and then stopped, nothing. why is there a difference in sound between the key and the remote start?

do you have a after market alarm ? if so you may have to reset the switch.
chech your fuse box for the engine fuse.

try undoing the battery for a few minutes to reset the ecu

easy way to see if its the starter is have someone turn the key and tap the starter lightly with like a hammer or whatever you have long enough to hit it. and if it starts up you know its the starter. other wise keep looking.

worked on my old 1g.

yes i do have an aftermarket alarm, and i was thinking maybe that was the problem. there is no reset switch though. thats a good idea, unhooking the battery cable. ill try that.
