I had success with a VPC/SAFC combination on my Supra before I went with the AEM EMS, and I knew they were popular in the DSM crowd. The ultimate wasn't too much of a success with the Supras but then again my friend Jaime said that alot of the DSMers use them with good success. I basically have this week to plan and get this done
I like the original e-manage. Worked very well on dsm cars. Haven't tryed the ultimate yet. To use no mass you have to run one at first and build a hertz table to input to the ecu. The vpc has a false table that works fantastic because it was propgrammed by HKS. The reason people stopped using them is because chip sets only came in 450cc, 550cc and 660cc. The need for larger injectors grew before people knew how to reprogram the chip in the ecu for larger injectors. Now you could run a jester chip that was burned for 880s and the timing tables locked at 17 advance and run a 450 chip in the vpc. And you could run 880 or larger injectors with great success.

Kirk I have both VPC setup and emanage ultimate if you want to go one off these routes.

Hey Jerry, not to say anything bad but when I bought my car why did we have so many problems getting the vpc to work on my car? Remember I had to yank it out and go dsmlink to get the car to run right. I just remember 2g's not having great luck with those. Just curious...

MAFT on my car smoothed out part throttle acceleration problems, idled great, got rid of a lot of crap in the engine bay.

It wasn't the vpc on your car that was the issue. You had a screwed up wire harness. The ecu had five codes on it from the day you bought it. Sensor signals were never getting to the ecu correctly.

Honestly I can't see why you want to ditch the mas in the first place. The 2g mas will meter enough airflow for mid 400 whp, and if that's not enough an Evo mas will meter enough airflow for 600 whp. Any more power than that and it's time for an AEM and the speed density that accompanies it anyway. I just can't see ditching a 2g mas to go with a VPC, which IMO is an inferior airflow metering system.

*edit* But this isn't helping- you simply stated that you wanted speed density, not your reasons why, and so this thread really isn't a debate of speed density vs. maf. I do think that VPC ranks on the low end of the three or four options you have for speed density.
