they are made of forged magnesium and at an 18 X 8.5 size only weigh 12.9lbs!!!

Probably looking at more like a 8" wide rim with a 235mm tire on around a +40 offset if you just want a drop-in tire on a daily driver. I don't know much about 2gs, but in reading stuff in the Handling Tech forum on dsmtuners it seems the normal recommendation is a 245/40/17 on 8" +40 wheels, and even then it can be close depending on tire choice.
