I've yet to get pulled over for it and all my cars have had aftermarket exhaust some didn't even had a catalytic converter they were replaced by a test pipe and I've passed LEO's all the time. I passed one just yesterday on I-4. He was actually getting on I-4... passed me... then I passed him and then he passed me lol. But yeah I haven't had any problems. Seems Dale Mabry is popular for these tickets.

I have heard of this happening on older cars alot. I have a friend who is a polk county officer and from what she had stated, they are looking for the early to late 90's vehicles that may have "modifications". Reason being is because they have Vehicle accident statistics that show the vehicles with certain "modifications" have been getting into more accidents. I told her that in my opinion, these accidents are caused by stupid people who think they can drive but that can't. The modifications have nothing to do with the accidents. She came back and said that since hillsborough county no longer has emmisions control, they can not stop people from performing any modifications to their cars which includes having those stupid drivers install them on their cars and begin their stupidity. She even stated that if you see for example a Z06 or other higher class sports car out on the road with some modifications such as a louder exhaust, that "most" cops will not pull them over due to their feeling that "statistically" they will be more careful on the road. Now I don't know about you guys, but how freaking fair is that? Basically, if you can afford a $30K - $50K sports car, you must be responsible enough to drive it so its OK to modify it. If you can't, be prepared to pay a fine for the modifications if a cop wants to pull you over because they might think you are in that stupid driver class.

what i use to do.. is that i'd drive with a silencer type of thing, that the megan tbe brought, and id just leave it in my trunk. and if i got pulled over, id just tell the cop that it snapped off, and im going to put it back on when i get hope. that i needs a special screw. ive that excuse over 10 times and worked perfectly.. but i have no idea what exhaust u have, nor if it brings this silencer.

What aftermarket exhaust systems look stock but still gives you the performance you want? I've yet to purchase an exhaust for the reason being a ticket that I don't need.

I got pulled over again last night near Bearss and Dale Mabry. Different cop, same issue. Not too lound, just illegal. He gave me a warning since I have gotten the ticket 2 weeks ago.

He said that the Northdale area cops are really cracking down b/c of people complaining about noise. And that its also a reason to check to make sure theres no alcohol/drugs

An electronic cutout after the downpipe. It allows you to bolt it to the stock exhaust, but flip a switch and you can run open downpipe.
