Ok so I have no idea what Im doing when it comes to DSMs. I know a little bit about cars but its not enough for me to get up into the engine bay and start fixin shit.

I have a 95 GST with about 90,xxx miles and I have no idea what is wrong with it other than what I was told by the previous owner. He told me that it had a boost leak and that it smokes some. Well obviously it smokes because I`ve seen that. I dont know why it smokes though. The smoke is white so Im thinking its an oil related thing. Also, it has a really really rough idle. I can turn the car on, and then after about 5 minutes or so, the RPMs will drop down to about 200 or so and bounce around some. I was told it could be either the ECU or the cam angle sensor. About the boost leak, I know about compression testing but I dont know how to do this.

Anyhow, I really wanna get this thing fixed. Is there anyone that can help me? If I cannot get the car fixed I may just sell it. These problems are minor I know, so someone has to know how to help me.

 

well if its white smoke it could be a blown headgasket, or could be a blown turbo, i had both these things go out and i had white smoke commin out as well in my 98 gsx. or if its not to much smoke it could be oil in ur intercooler pipes and it could be gettin sucked into ur turbo. does the smoke come out only when u build boost? is there more smoke when ur in higher gears? sounds like this might be ur problem. talk to the BROTHERS on here and they run some good rates to do this shit. and im sure someone has a used turbo lying around they could sell to u if thats the problem. idk my .02

 

well the car has a garret T3/T4 turbo, full 3" intercooler piping, GReddy BOV, ect. All I dont have is the FMIC. I havent drivin the car in higher gears due to the fact that I dont want to make any problems I may have worse. I know that when idling the car doest really smoke too bad, but when I accellerate the car starts to smoke. when Im about 3,000 RPMs is when it got bad and I slowed it down. Lmk if this helps some.

 

Sounds like it may be the turbo seals, I currently have the same problem. I've got a new turbo I just got to get it put on. Hopefully the turbo is your only problem, as I am hoping with mine. Does your car overheat?

ok thanx umm no I dont think my car is over heating but then again I really havent ran it long enough to tell, nor have I payed too much attention to that aspect. I may have time to look at it Sunday, so I will keep you guys posted. Thanx for all the help.
