Default Mitsu Tech: Help me ! ! !

Ok my fellow DSMer`s, I`m looking for some help. I recently(about 3 months ago) bought a 1995 Eclipse GS-T. The car had minor problems when I bought it, for example, it was running on 2 1/2 cylanders due to bad plug wires, smoke, boost leak, ect. Anyhow, I lost my license and I can`t drive the car, so I decided to buy it and fix it up some. I know this is a lot to read, so please bare with me. =]

Well, the battery died due to me not starting the car every so often. So, Monday night I got my friend to jump start my car, (after getting new plugs and wires, which eliminated the 2 1/2 cylander problem), and the car started with really no problem at all. There was smoke, but it wasn`t a lot.

After about 10 minutes, we decided to disconnect the cables and let my car run and charge the battery a lil. Well, a few minutes later, the car boggs down from about 1,200 RPM`s to 200 RPM`s almost instantly. I decided that because I didnt know what this was I would shut the car off. My friend, who was standing at the front of the car, said he saw smoke from the engine bay. I dont know what this was, but it is something I need help figuring out.

Then tonight, we decided to jump start the car once again. The car started up with no problems at all, and I removed the cables about 2 minutes after the car was started. After I let the car run for about 10 minutes with no problem at all, I decided to take the car around the block one time to see how the car would react. I kept the car at about 15mph and everything was doing fine, no smoke, knocking, bogging, ect. When I was on my way back to the house, I accelerated to about 25mph and as I did, my friend, who was driving behind me, told me there was a trail of smoke from my exhaust. He said it wasn`t heavy, but there was still smoke there that wasn`t there before. After I got it back to the house, I let it sit running in neutral. After about 3 minutes, there was a noise in the engine bay, the RPM`s shot down again, and smoke came out from what looked like under the cam gears. It was kinda dark outside so Im not too sure.

I am unaware of what this is, but Im wondering if anyone has a clue? Also, while the car was running in neutral, there was a slight noise coming from the engine bay that sounded like air escaping from a hose or something. The wierd thing is that you could only hear it every 5 seconds or so. Any help would be appreciated.

Umm I can do an oil change on my own. The plugs and wires are all brand new. All I would have to do is check for a boost leak and get a new 02 sensor and piston rings, if those were even the problem. Any other help?? Thanx guys.

Obviously you weren't being serious, but you were certainly being condescending.

That was hilarious...and pointless.
