You don't not loosen the water pump. You do that and you'll have coolant dumping all over you and the side of your motor. I don't know how the belt is on a Spyder but I do know you don't loosen the water pump. If its like the 4g63. I know you have a 4g64 the tensioner for the power steering is the actual power steering pump itself. You can pivot it back and fourth. Maybe they were talking about loosening the bolts on the pulley that attaches to the water pump but you don't need to do that.

I see what you are saying BUT that isn't the belt. When the belt broke the water pump stopped working (car started to overheat) air cond, stopped working, battery light went on, brake light went on (yeah strange) and I didn't have any power steering.

Hmmm okay so then its the belt that goes from the alternator to the water pump. Same goes for the alternator. Its pivots back and fourth to tension the belt.

Check that one and come back. I'm still trying to figure out which belt your talking about. On a 4g63 there's 3... ps to water pump, alt to water pump and underdrive pulley (crank), AC to tensioner pulley to underdrive pulley (crank).

on the 4g63 theres one that goes around the crank pulley, water pump, and alternator, thats the only that if it breaks you will lose the water pump. so that one broke probably, and on the 4g63 it is tensioned by the alternator. but thats the 4g63, it may be different for you.

go get a new belt, loosen the bolts on the alternater(one on the bottom above the oil pan, and another going thru a bracket on the top) when you can move the alternator back ad forth, push it up, put the new belt around the crank, water pump, and alternator, take a pry bar or somethin and put it between the alternator and ps pump, while you pry the alternator to make the belts tight, tighten the bolt on the bracket real good. then tighten the one on the bottom.

maybe a pulley is squeaking, but if you didnt get the belt REALLY tight, its probably gonna squeak.
