Default got a problem w/ my maf

i have a 1g 90 talon tsi. well today i got donr installing my 2g maf and 550 rc injectors. well the car will idle but not go past 2500 rpm. checked my wiring. it looks to be good. i found 2 different wiring. one had 6&8 swapped with one another. i did the vfaq wiring 1st and did another suggestion 2nd. well its the same either way.

can i get the correct wiring from someone here. like what color wire from the 2g plug goes to what color wire on the 1g harness. also what are symtoms of a bad maf. i know its one or the other. dont have a 2g to test on unfortunately. thanx

The vfaq is accurate. That's how I have mine wired and it works fine.

i wish there was a way for me to test it. i may take you up on that offer. i just wanna see if this one is good 1st. hey anthrax, are you sure this one was good when you sold it to me?

Yes. It was Stephan's (the Mitsu-Tech mod). It used to be on Alex' car (I believe), then Stephan had it (because he bought the car), sold it to the guy in Tampa (who's name escapes me at the moment). I bought it from him. He never installed it because he didn't have injectors yet. The car he was going to put it on was sold to Todd.

Todd can tell you that the harness for the 1g MAS was never hacked into.
Also, the plug was purchased from ebay (by the guy I bought the MAS from), and the plug had not been soldered to a 1g MAS plug (MAS side).

So, I'm 99.9% confident it was never installed after being purchased from Stephan and therefore 99.9% confident it was in perfect working order (unless Stephan sold a bad 2g MAS to this guy, which is unlikely).

EDIT: It just dawned on me that if you wired it improperly you may have damaged the ECU or MAS. I recall that the first time I tried to create a 2g MAS-1g Car plug-and-play setup I apparently had two or three of the connections making contact with each other. When I installed the setup and started the car it died immediately. I removed the setup and installed the 1g MAS and drove off - 1/10 mile out of my complex the car lost two cylinders. I had to replace the ECU.

hmm intresting. well acoording to what i have read. my ecu is in limp mode right now. i have checked the wiring and it looks right. wish i had a car to test the maf in. any suggestions? thanx for the input so far everyone

Can you take a pic of the way you wired everything? Or, can you explain how you have it wired?

Install your 1g MAS and see if everything's okay? If so, it's your wiring, the MAS, or both (as you've suggested).

Was the MAS bad? I thought you told me the wiring was foul, you fixed that, and all was well. I pulled that MAS and intake from a car that jumped time.
