telling apart jdm 4g63t's vs. usdm ones
what is the easiest way to tell a 91 jdm talon turbo engine between a usdm one. Guy said he got a dealership to install a jdm engine in his awd talon he wants to trade me but doesn't have the documents anymore. I'd love to know if he was telling the truth, i.e. if it has the jdm engine in it.

The 89-91 GVR4 Motors came with 14bs, 91-93 came with 16gs, and the RS version came with yellow top 510s and 16gs.
The valve cover is really not a sure way to tell, the GVR4 had the red valve covers, but some Evos had the silver ones like here in the states.
It really does not make a difference if it is JDM as the internals are the same, besides being a 6 bolt/7 bolt.

I don't care if it's jdm or not, being as he said he bought a jdm motor and got it swapped in is what I want to know (i.e. if he's lieing to me cause of no receipts). I know they did not make "jdm" talons, I was just meaning a jdm 4g63t.

tony just ask him what dealer he took it to go to that dealer and call them up give them this guys vin and they'll tell u if anywork had been done....simple as that

I'd love to get it, it sure would be a change then the vert, and probably get better gas mileage too.

I know what you are getting at by saying he said he had work done with no receipt. Your best bet would be to do what Tunedcolt said and call the dealership up.
