i have a FWD talon and my 3rd gear kinda sucks acording to what the last owner said he had to grind down the fork to make it fit...... is it worth it getting the shepherd tranny rebuilt wit LSD for 2000 dollars..

If you want to check prices or you are on a time crunch (cause they use your tranny as a core) check out www.teamrip.com also known as TRE people have had great success with them also.

 

Jerry (lancerman) is a local solution as well, and at a little less than half what shep would charge you.

This is VWFREFF posting. it is not worth getting the shep tranny. Jerry has personally taken both TRE and shep FWD trannies apart, and said that they were just a standard rebuild with an lsd. he also mentioned that there is not much you can do to build a FWD tranny. you should just get a good suspension and tire setup to reduce wheel hop which is what breaks those trannies.

I honestly would not waste that kind of money on a fwd.. for $2000 you can almost buy a running awd complete car.

2000k for a tranny is overkill for me, then again Im poor and on a budget. If you have the money, by all means go for it. If you are looking for something local with a good turn around and price, Jerry is the man.
