Default No heat...

How do you guys feel about having no heat?
I've been thinking of taking out the heater core, and was wondering if anyone else had done it around here and how you like it.

BTW it's a weekend car.

eh, just pull it out, florida is generally hot anyway.. besides if you have an extra car (i'm assuming you do because you said this is a weekend car) you can drive it on those far and in between "cold" nights around here. That's my .02

Blackie has no heater core. Car heats up on its own anyway. Just do a quick 2nd and 3rd gear pull and wala instant heater!!

the plus side of this is less coolant to deal with resulting in less possibility of leaks.

I think you're crazy, but I think I already told you that in person.

I drove with no heat for an entire winter, and it sucked. I say going without AC is easily doable- the only really bad time is when it rains and the windows fog up. But no heat is just crummy. I remember driving out to a meet one night last winter, temperature was down in the 40's. I got so cold I could barely shift the car, shivering and miserable. I can see where you're coming from in weight reduction and since you have another car... I would probably rip it out if I was going to totally gut my car, but not until that point.

Yeah it'll just depend on how I feel when I get to that part of the car. Right now everytime I go out there to do more work, it's wicked hot with the paint peeler. It then makes me think I will never ever need heat.
