Montero Sport problem
we have a 2001 Montero sport 3.0 v6 xls,4wd.Heres the problem.it starts fine but when you drive and come to a stop it dies.Almost seems like if Im not pushing the gas pedal it doesnt get fuel. I m guessing fuel pump ?
Where can I get this diagnosed without going to the dealer ?
Any help would be appreciated...

Just start checking the basics, if the fuel filter is relatively easy to access, try replacing it. Maybe change out the plugs, depending on the miles maybe the spark plug wires and distributor cap (if it has one). Basic tune-up stuff first.
Changed the filter and added system cleaner.Plugs arent accesible The whole top plenum has to come off to change the plugs...Heres the weird part...When I put the ac on it runs fine at a good rpm..Could this be a belt problem ?
Does the ac run on just that belt or do other acc. also run on that belt? Is the "Check Engine" light on? I heard that Advance Auto has a diag. machine they can plug into the diag. port to see why the check engine light is on. Funny thing my check engine light came on 2 days ago and I was at Advance Auto today and forgot to ask lol. Could it be a short somewhere? When was the last tune up performed on the vehicle? Could it be the alternator? So many different things. I would have Discount Auto Parts bring out their battery/charging system test machine out. I believe it tells you if its your battery/alternator/starter. It could be so many things.

I second the ISC Motor being shot, if it's part failure related.
As Jordan mentioned though, make sure your idle is set at spec settings. If it is, then maybe look into replacing the ISC Motor, since it's a somewhat expensive part.
