Default is 2.5" enough?

well I got started on doing exhaust work.. and pretty much from the stock downpipe back I got 2.5 inch exhaust..

I was thinking of just getting a 2.5inch downpipe and bolting it up and having complete exhaust rather then going through the hassle of replacing all of it and going to 3inch

would 2.5inch exhaust support a 16g @ 18psi ?

can it hold 300whp? thats all I'm shootin for in this car..

what is a good 2.5inch downpipe.. and a louder muffler then what I have now?

that would fit 2.5??? I'm lookin at apexi

Thats plenty for all your looking for this car. Most people who have 3in will never use it to its potential.

Pretty much all downpipes are the same, just whats cheap or a waste of cash.

I've never cared for canister mufflers, but that's my personal preference. I like the Magnaflow oval mufflers that actually seem to muffle sound rather than acting like more of a resonator. If you want loud, though, you'd probably look at something like the N1.

This isnt a loud muffler Julian.

Anyways, to answer your question, just go to a muffler shop and get a 2.5" inlet magnaflow bullet muffler. It will give you all the performance you need and it wont break the wallet either.

2.5" would be fine... thats what I used on the TSI I used to have. I used some big ass muffler... was made for a supra or rx7. Gave me a nice deep tone, wasn't loud at all.

just curious as to when a 2.5" exhaust becomes inefficient at what horspower... i do like a quieter sound though. if you were to upgrade the turbo bigger than a 16g would it be a problem to stick with a 2.5" or is it better to just upgrade and get over the loudness...

I love the deep exhaust note my greddy evo has. And I think it is a little quieter than most DSMs I have heard... well until wastegate opens
