Water Pump

Default Water Pump

So im leaking coolant from the left side of my 420a.. i cant see where its starting to leak from.. but it drips from the oil pan around the seal and on the bottom of the oil filter.. thats where its collecting and drips from... i dont have an over heating problem.. and i started the car and coolant does flow... the car drips when its off.. idk if that makes a differance... does this soundl ike my water pump and what should i check to make sure...

$600 if you take it someplace to get fixed because they have to do a timing job at the same time. If you can search for how to do a timing belt job on here or other websites you can do it yourself. Its not that bad of job to do but it is a little time consuming.

yea unfortunatly i have a 200pc craftsman set and a jack.... i live in ny and only down here for school... if i was at home i wouldnt think twice about doing it... and my timing belt is like 2000 miles old...

You dont need to switch out your timing belt however the water pump does run off the timing belt. You just have to make sure that when you are switching it out that the timing marks are set back to TDC or use some sort of tool to keep the timing correct.

I thought they only worked on 4G63's and not the 420A's...has this changed??

well unless a water pump makes a really bad knocking noise then at this point fixing the water pump is useless bc something really bad broke tonite when i was gettino n the highway... and now i have a bad knock... no overheating tho... life sucks especially when your 1300 miles from home
