Default chattering noise in tranny area

Got a problem and need some help troubleshooting. Ever since I've gotten the car down here in Tampa it's been making a chattering noise around the tranny area. It doesn't do it all the time, it's totally random. It seems as though it's coming from around the bell housing for the most part so I'm starting to think clutch. I've got an ACT2600 with a 12.5lb XACT flywheel. They've probably got around 3k or 4k miles on them. I searched on tuners a little bit and you get mixed reviews there of course. But most of the guys in that thread were saying that it's most likely the clutch springs failing. I'm just looking for your guys' input on this and your experiences with ACT products. You pay like $650 for a clutch and flywheel and it takes a crap on you a few thousand miles down the road??? Sounds pretty shady to me...

Does it do it when the clutch is pressed in, or only when in neutral? Does it happen while driving down the road? Give us a few examples of when you've heard this chatter.

I think I've met you if your the Guy down here going to Florida College, and was hanging out with a neighbor for awhile.

Yea, that's me btw. It does it when it's in neutral, and while driving now. Happens at random times though. It happens more often now though. It goes away for the most part when the pedal in pushed in. Kris right? Name's Thomas if you forgot already. In the mood to drop a tranny any time soon?? haha

that's one thing my dad suggested. Is there a difference between ACT's tob and an oem mitsu one? ive heard there's a slight difference. I forgot to mention that the pedal doesn't feel nearly as stiff as it was a few weeks ago. Also it engages farther down the pedal now. Still think it's the throw out bearing?

There's a bunch of possible problems here. Almost anything in the clutch and clutch release system could be at fault, with a few possibilities standing out, like the TOB or the clutch disc going south.

If you got the newer ACT TOB, it shouldn't be that different from a Mitsu OEM tob. The old ones were metal sleeved and could cause a lot of problems up to destroying the tranny input shaft, but the new one is plastic sleeved and similar to OEM.

BTW, was that you calling yesterday? I saw that I got a call from a 5-something area code I've never seen before and a voicemail. I'd have checked the voicemail, but for some reason I have to go through some sort of initial setup to access my box and I didn't have the time.

Wasn't me calling. Mine's a 317 area code. Well at any rate...the tranny's gonna have to come off regardless. Anybody got some room that they'd be willing to let me use since the school kinda frowns upon dropping a tranny in the middle of their parking lot.

LOL we just got Jordans car Out of the garage if you plan on pulling it in and just doing it, I wouldn't mind it at my house. Hell you could almost walk to my house from the school...LOL

As long as it's not in there for over 2 weeks..

Oh and these are easy to pull, especially with you being FWD.

Mine is, Jordans is, but this guy is FWD. Lol not ragging on you Thomas. Fwd is just easier to remove trannies(less parts).
