Default Power Steering Belt

Is there a way to tighten it? I just changed the alternator and that belt is tight, but the PWS belt is a little loose and when I turn the wheel it slips and I feel it.

Someone mentioned checking to make sure the pump itself was not loose...

Any other ideas?

Ive always tightened it by sticking something behind the pump to get leverage on it and pull the slack out of the belt.

...or just pull on it while you're tightening the pump down.

Sounds good, I searched dsmtuners and found the info. There are also 2 or 3 bolts on the pulley itself. Ill take a look when I get home today.

You have to loosen the pump bolts (the bolts to the bracket), pull it towards you until the belt is taut, and then tighten the bolts. There's nothing more to it (unless the setup is different on a 2g).

Well I got the belt tightened. Now I started driving and it went out all together. The car started to overheat too... The belt was still tight too when I checked out. PWS fluid level is fine and there are no visible leaks.

Ideas!?

The pump could be bad. The only thing I like about fords is that big ass fill cap on the pump resevoir, just pop it open and see if the pump is moving the fluid. You may be able to look inside the pump, or just switch it out.
