Default nitrous and gear questions

I have an 03 eclipse gt and I was wondering how bad nitrous is for the motor. Also I want to put gears in, I've had it up to 145 and I would like to put some actually alot of that power into acceleration instead of top speed. what's a good ration and how much will it cost?

HORSEPOWER. Nitrous is fine it all depends on how much you use. Basic rule of thumb half your stock hp is a good shot for nitrous. Your gearing dont worry about it. You want more accleration you need hp`s.

Wow.. hmm is this the first car you've tried to make power out of?
I could be wrong but most FWD owners don't change their gearing, maybe you're thinking of the RWD rule of thumb.
Another guess is that you are 5 speed, will your clutch handle the extra hit of power?

Please post all mods and details possible about your car, and let us know the exact purpose of the car.

I doubt switching final drives is worth it, if it is possible. Nitrous won't hurt anything in moderation, used properly and with the right knowledge. If you research and gain a basic background on the subject, you shouldn't have any problems. The proper place for that research is a national forum specific to your 3rd generation car, like http://www.club3g.com/forum/index.php and http://www.eclipseforums.org/forums.html . Intake and exhaust are good basic first mods. I don't know enough about those cars to recommend a piping size for your exhaust. I'd suggest reading through the forums I linked to find information from people who have experience with your car.

Nitrous is great.
I have a full wet kit with a purge for $300 if your looking for one.
And to answer your question I dont believe there are aftermarket gears for your tranny. I wouldnt mess with the gearing anyways.
