Default Injectors

Anybody knows the limits of injectors. My goal is 400-420 hp. I was thinking 550 cc but a friend told me that would not be enough. I was told 780cc but that sounds a bit much. Any info would help. Thanx

what are you using to tune? if you get something big, then i think you will need an fpr or dsmlink. i dont know what kind you need, but id get like 720's or something, i dont know.

You'll have a hard time tuning for anything bigger than 650's on an SAFC alone. Even 650's are pretty far out there. Big adjustments with the SAFC screw up your timing by putting you on really low load maps all the time. You're probably stuck doing it with 650's if you're going to stick with the SAFC, unless you get a keydiver chip to compensate for the bigger injectors.

I really wouldnt use an SAFC for anything over 550s but thats just me.

Id seriously contemplate DSMlink, especially with a goal of 400+ hp.

I have 650`s right now and the safc. Yes it does become a pain in the ass.

I prefer not to use the SAFC for anything , but sometimes it's all people have to work with. If he is willing to move to DSMlink, I'd say just to throw some 850's or 950's in there and not worry about injectors again. 650's are on the edge of what the SAFC can deal with, just on a raw correction percentage basis with timing issues and driveability going along with it.

I was the tuning king back in the day when I had my GSX. I ran 780cc injectors with a 50 trim controlled by SAFC w/datalogger and my tune was dead on with no timing being pulled and seeing 15 degrees from 4k - redline! It was a PITA and it took alot of time to do it, but its doable. I didnt have a wideband either. Just tuned on EGTs and timing. Another thing, I didnt have a chipped ECU either. Just a stock 98 GSX ECU.

Oh yea, I will never try tuning with that big of an injector ever again, unless its with DSMlink.
