Default Ecu?

it just cranks over but doesnt fire up. it has fuel, spark and the timing is good, i thought it was the CAS so i replaced that and it still does the same thing, i took out the ecu and took the cover off and it is a little rusty around the edges of the board and under the chip on the board it is sticky. Could the ecu be bad? what else could it be?

It depends on how severe the damage is. Sometimes you can get away with replacing just the capacitors.

If new caps don't fix it you should get in contact with an ECU guy to see if you can get it fixed. The ECU in my car now came to me with a fresh rebuild by keydiver and it had experienced so much cap leakage that he had to patch surface elements to a board with bits of fine wire to repair it.

Try to clean the acid off if you do recap it... I once knew what you are supposed to use to clean it off but now I've forgotten. If I find the information I'll let you know, it's some sort of electronics cleaning solution.

If they're blown or if they've damaged surface elements.

well i havent driven it in a while and so i had to push start it since the battery was dead, then i drive it up to work, i goto drive home and the motor is tapping loud and sound like the timing was off, so i pull in and check it out and timing is good but one of the lifters wasnt working. so i figured id drive it home and fix the lifters, i get in start it up and backup and it dies and havent got it to fire up since, ill replace the ecu and see what happens. if its a 95 with a 91 6 bolt would it be better to get a 91 gst ecu or would the harness be different....
