Default idle issues?

my car would drop rpms sometimes during stop/go traffic. i put in a jdm mr dv today and it was the first time the car stalled. it happens right after pushing in the clutch from 1st when not going into second due to braking. i am not sure if the dv has anything to do with this and i'm just clueless. any info would be greatly appreciated.

it is recirculated an no boost leaks. i just found out that having an open element intake is most likely my problem. so that means stock airbox is going in if i can find one.

Thats interesting... Im pretty sure John is running the JDM MR Diverter Valve with no problems. An air filter shouldnt cause problems though is my thing, good luck, hopefully someone else can chime in.

Actually they say aftermarket intakes screw up the airflow to the MAF in a lot of the newer cars. I've not spent enough time on those boards to know if it's true, but I know that it's something people say happens to WRXs, STis, Evos, SRT-4s, etc.

When we installed the injen intake on a friends evo it ran perfectly fine. I guess its just on a car to car basis.

Put the stock intake back on and see what happens.

Bingo. Kind of like DSMs running open/recirculated BOV's. Some cars can get away with it, others totally stall out. I too thought at first that an open element filter could NOT cause the problem, but considering how finicky the OBD systems are now a days, I could see it happening.

Hell, cars in our present day, will throw a CEL over a filled charcoal canister.

make sure you let us know if that fixes the problem, b/c I seriously doubt that an open element filter will cause that.... but I havent had enough experience with it, so I am not sure, I just cant see how that could happen??
