ok guys, my friend has an 89 galant base model and the engine is a 4gsomethin and some one told him it was the same motor that came in eclipces. i was just wonderin if this is true and if so what year and model eclipse. if you need the whole engine code i can get it.thanks for the help

The whole engine code might help but I'll bet you it's a SOHC 4G63. I can't remember the exact year range but I usually look under the hoods of every galant and hyundai looking for 4G64s whenever I'm at the junkyard, and I remember seeing a lot of 4g63 engine codes, but SOHC. I have no idea what the compatibility with the DOHC engine is.
