+1 on the turbo back exhaust and boost controller... mitsus respond good to turning up the boost and freeing up the exhaust... as for the warranty, mitsubishi throws it out the window the minute you put ANYTHING aftermarket on your car (wheels too, if i'm not mistaken) i went to the dealership before I was deployed and they were really adamant about putting anything on the vehicle. i was planning on getting an evo RS when i got back from deployment cuz all my cars have been mitsubishi (3000gt turbo SL and 1g eclipse GSX), but i guess i wanted to just change over to something different, thus, thre reason for the 180sx... (besides, i don't have enough friends to put into a four door anyway , haha)

If I was going to buy a new Evo I would get the GSR over the MR, the MR is about 5k over the GSR, but with 5k of mods you will be smoking MR's. The MR does have a better suspension, but the GSR is great in itself.

Best 4 mods for a Evo: catless exhaust, Jestrtuning.com flash, mbc, intake (or fuel pump for insurance)

As far as the clutch, its not a question of if you will need a new one, but when. The stock clutch is made to wear so people who don't know how to drive them, won't destroy the tranny, which is alot more $$ than a new clutch. Anything below 400 whp I would go with a ACT clutch and a flywheel, which would be around $700-800 depending on where you get it. Plus install price $800 for dealership (I knew the Evo mechanic there so he installed it with a friend for me for $300)

Mistu are the biggest Nazis with mods. Believe me, if you take it to a dealer, they will bring the mechanic out to look over the car for mods to void the warranty. This happened to me in SC and in FL. They will then write down your VIN and save it. The last autocross I went to they said anyone with a Evo could race under a assumed name because Mitsu had hired private investigators to see if Evo owners were autocrossing, and they were again voiding warranties.

Even with Mitsu being dicks I still love my Evo. It is far my favorite I've owned. (2 previous RX-7s) Especially after you get cams in it, it is a beast. Hope this helps.

You can get an MR suspension from another owner used for around $800 if you want it. The only advantage is the aluminum roof. The 6 speed is not that great. The gearing is closer so you shift more.

I agree with the above, most Mitsu dealers are dicks. There is one in Oklahoma that is pretty cool about it though.

What is different in the MR suspension? Is it just higher spring rate+ the Bilsteins or is there more? I'd just slap some coilovers on a straight VIII if the only difference is spring rate and dampers.

Have you heard about people covering their dashboard VINs with electrical tape and stuff like that? The first thread I read about that on evom was discussing that. Pretty crazy that they have to do that.

I've heard of ppl doing that, but if you take it to a Mitsu dealer they will just rip the covering off or find the VIN somewhere else. Like at Cannon Mistu in Lakeland my exterior trim kept popping loose and even though that had nothing to do with engine mods they said they would have to inspect the whole car to see if any modding was done, then call Mitsu and see if it would be covered.

I couldn't wait around for them to do that and I eventually just superglued it down. There was a article in Import Tuner about a act that makes it illegal to void a vehcle warranty just because of mods. They can only void if the mods directly effect the problem being addressed under warranty. Mine is out of warranty anyways w/33k miles.

Is this true? Or did you only hear about the law?
