Question 6bolt Main Caps Problem ???

Hi guys I was wondering if you can give me your opinions on a little problem that I am having. I while back a bought a 6 bolt bare block and since I wanted to put it in my 95 gst I figured why not get it rebuild, well I have just about done that the only problem is that the block never came with the main caps I had to buy a set from mitsubishigraveyard. the machine called me and told me that those weren't going to fit I need help. I don't want to start all over again with a new block and spend more money. maybe I can take it somewhere else, I see that quite a few people here talk about a guy named Jerry. Does anyone have his number? please let me know, oh and nothing fancy is going in the block just 2g pistons with 1g big rods and arp bolts.

I thought they were a specific item. That only the ones it came with are the ones it will work with. Kind of like a head with different cam caps is as only good as you can throw it.

you may be right but see with cam caps they dont have bearings in the cap so how they wear is very important, because you cannot remove the lower portion on the head.

you have a problem you cannot put diffent main caps from a different motor on your motor they are machined from the factory precise you can not mix them up you will lock up the motor if you put it together it is bad news i know but start seaching for a new block by the way this is the BROTHERS speaking thanks

Correct you would have to line hone them just like cam caps on a head.
For what it would cost to do you could just get a bare block from someone cheap.

Line honing proabably won't work because your bearing would need to be alittle larger dia on the outside, good luck finding bearings the right size. Line hone will work if they caps are VERY close. The machinist should have recomended it if it was possible.

I have a freshly built 6bolt shortblock with all brand new parts except the crank for $800 if that is an option for you.

It would need to be line honed. Cost 140 to do it. And it wont be as precision as a factory machined block.
