Still having timing issues
Ever since ive put this 6 bolt in the timing belt comes loose after it sits for a while(like an hour or more), but after you start its tight again, turn it off and its tight, even if its loose and you turn the crank by hand it tightens back up. Ive replaced the tensioner 3 times, belt twice, and both idler and tensioner pulleys. Ive also had the balance shafts removed, could that have something to do with it?

have you preloaded and set the tensioner properly using the grenade pin? they are a major pain in the ass on those cars...no balance shaft shouldnt be an issue as long as you still have the pully on where the lower one goes, which obviously you do or the belt wouldnt fit at all....how much slack is it developing, just for reference?

yea tensioner and everything was set right, and it gets about an inch back and forth worth of play on the part of the belt on the back half, it really isnt bad until it gets loose enough to where it jumps teeth when you start it.....

hmm...if everything else is in right (like the tensioner..etc) maybe the belt being a little to big...intersteting situation....keep us updated...

who did the balance shafts? if the balance shaft bearing isn't turned to block the oil passage oil will bleed out of the oiler hole, whether or not this will cause your problem, not sure. But if your residual oil pressure is allowed to bleed, then this could be part of the problem.

would that cause it?

rage, quick question, did you catch the part about a month ago where i beefed up the pin on the tensioner? it also prevents it from bleeding down. If you want to do that. It would solve all your problems.

into the engine left support bracket until it makes contact with the tensioner arm (Figures 4 & 5).
would that cause it?

It might, ive never done that and never had a problem with my belts loosening up. Would never hurt to try to do what is supposed to be done though.
