How about an upgrade for the clutch? The stock clutch assemblies are prone to lots of problems so why wait another 6k to do it again.

Knowing how to drive a manual car and a manual awd turbo car are two different things. There are plenty of people with high miles on their clutchs no problems. Tell him to look into getting an act clutch for it and call it a day.

Sumox, unfortunately there is a problem with the EVO MR stock clutches. Some of them are defective units, but Mitsu will not step up and honor it. I know personally of one person who I know for a fact can drive a manual car properly, and his clutch went out in under 5K. Its the same story with the early EVO tranny TSBs. Some people had syncro issues some didn't. So Mitsu used this as leverage to say that it was driver error, when infact it was faulty parts. Sadly, its not worth fighting, and I would just put an aftermarket clutch in it. It sucks Mitsu will not step up to the plate on this one. But you have to choose your battles wisely. I know it sucks to have to eat the clutch this early in the game, but you would waste a lot more time / effort fighting them on this one.

Oh I totally understand.. But to buy a car with sticker price like the mr.. they better kiss your ass.. give you a new clutch and shine your shoes.. From all the horror stories I hear from DSM'ers , I will never buy a Mitsu...

Mitsu DID fix the syncro issue though.... I don't really think there is much of a problem with the stock clutches. They did it so people wouldn't be breaking other, more expensive parts when they sidestep the clutch off the rev limiter.
