If you don't know, don't buy it. You will be poor forever, hate cars and end up a hobo underneath a bridge.

I bought an 88 about a month ago. It's not running but i'm working on it. I do have a friend who has a few of them though and he loves them. He drives one daily and has very little problems. It's a 2.6L turbo but it's only 188hp stock. Rear wheel drive though so it should be fun.

There are a few websites that sell parts. The prices are really not that bad. Search for Conquest and you'll find a lot.

Their biggest problems are the stock swirl jet head and the ancient throttle body injection system. Both of with can be changed/eliminated. I believe they also have head gasket issues.

From what I hear they overheat alot. DSM tried a new head design that was supossed to keep them from overheating, but it did just the opposite. This is just what I heard IDK for sure. Personally I would put a 4G63 in it if I had one, I heard they fit quite nice

its an '88 therefore the car is approx 17 years old, be prepared to spend some money fixing it up etc. take it for a test drive, check all belts, oil level etc etc etc. Just remember when buying a car that old you have to expect to encounter some problems, if your looking for a daily driver, i wouldnt recomend it

its a bigger commtment, time wise and financially, like Ian said. if you arent familiar with them, you may want to stay away from them. itll be constant headaches and quite frustrating.

the G54B is not exactly mitsubishis best motor. it started out as a water pump and its in a car. it has a 12A, TBI, cooling issues as well as primative steering setup. you have to be a fanatic to put up w/ a starquest.
