Default 4g63t into Eagle Summit

Is it possible on a budget? Has anyone seen this done?

I've got a freind who had a Summit as a daily driver but blew the head gasket. It's sitting around his house and he told me I could have it for free if I wanted it. I've got $3500 and was curious if it would be a worthwhile venture to try and put a 4g63t into it. I know of people who've take the 4g63t and dropped them into Hyundai Excell wagons and run 12's. I'm sure we've all seen a video or two online of them.

This car is currently FWD and I know I can get a JDM Cyclone motor for under $2G with everything. This would leave me with around $1500 to sink into it. I don't have a great deal of mechanical knowlege, so I'd probably be paying someone to do the work for me.

I've always liked the appeal of the sleeper car. This is why I'm considering it. I searched google but didn't come up with anything.

Any of you DSM guys have some input?

I don't know any details but I have seen it done to an AWD summit.

I wouldn't waste my time trying to convert it to AWD. That's a pain in the arse. Just buy the AWD model and sell his (if you pick it up). A 4g63t swap shouldn't be that hard, it's definetly been done before. That's all I'd concentrate on. Forget the AWD unless you either pick up an AWD model or if you find an AWD Model and can somehow remove the drivetrain from it and throw it onto your FWD one. (Which usually won't work just like that, usually requires lots of custom fabrication). You can get a cheap 4g63t @ Cophers or from someone locally I'd say as cheap as $700 and it should be fine. Visit 4g61t.org there are alot of people on there that have done this before. I'm on that site as well. You might be able to find more help there. Good luck to you either way. Sleepers are great and I do own one .

Thanks for the speedy replies. I tried to register for that site you mentioned a few times in the last hour, but it threw back a bunch of errors codes at me.

So is it possible to get 4g turbo motor that would be swapable into that FWD summit without converting it to AWD? I know they made turbo motors for FWD eclipses, at least... I thought they did.

Ya I'll have to talk to the Paul Mezz (the admin on there and try to get him to finally fix that). Anyways, try logging in it should work even when it gave you those codes @ the top of the page. It should send a link to your email address where you should click to confirm your membership. After that go back on the forums and try logging in.

Still not working. I never get a confirmation email, and I also don't get the option of logging in with whatever name I try to create.

Is it possible for you to repost this question over there and I can read the replies?

you got 3500, you need a clean 1G. All of those cyclone imports come with AWD trannies so you would have to find a FWD tranny to bolt up to a 4g63 or convert to AWD, either way it takes alot of knoledge, work and dedication.
