Default Compression Test/Timing Belt

Well i guess the time has come for me to replace my timing belt and i guess the water pump too someone said....The mitubishi dealer wants to charge me 540$ for a timing belt and all drive belts replaced....firestone wants the same price pretty much too. But im not sure if i need a new one or not....Also how do i run a compression test on the engine? I would like to know because b4 i bolt on my kit i want my engine to be in top shape....

Takes 2 people one to read the guage and one to turn the ignition

Dont take this the wrong way but i think you should just pay someone to do all this for you.

The guage will hold the pressure till you press the button to release the pressure.

That's true, but part of the value of the test is being able to see how quickly compression jumps up. It should hit about half of the max value on the first stroke, half that again the next stroke, tapering off as you approach the final compression number, or build in a fashion at least similar to the above.

Anybody can crank the car for you, just offer a neighbor a beer to help you or something.
