The only method ive heard of doing it is using auto tranny fluid.You use a small vaccum line and your car will smoke for awhile till it burns it all out.I did it on all my cars and it worked great.

when I had my dsm I used tranny fluid instead of oil for about 5 minutes to clean out the lifters and all the other junk in there. I didn't do any harm and the lifters shut up for about 3 months.
btw, I have also heard for old-timey guys that they used to use kerosene in the oil to clean out shit.
