Default 2nd gear grind?

i have a 91 tsi awd and i just flushed the whole tranny fluid and put in gm syncromesh friction modified but it still grinds second when i either shift fast or after like 15 miles of driving when it gets hot but i was wondering how much about would it be to get this fixed? or would i be better off buying a new tranny? if not does anyone know a good place to do a rebuild .............what do you guys suggest i do?

If that's the first time you've put synchromesh in, I'd do it again and make sure you flush it well with at least a quart. Just run it through the tranny. If your synchros are definitely on the way out, you can have the transmission rebuilt.

Contact Jerry to have it done locally. If it were me, I'd buy a spare tranny and have it rebuilt, and when your current transmission is bad enough, swap it out and rebuilt it as well.

jerry does great rebuilds, i had the same problem. pulled the tranny, gave it to him and it's like butter now

most likely the problem will only get worse, unless your clutch needs adjusting, if it's the synro witch is weak on the 1g, it will eventually not even go into gear, forcing it may blow up the tranny eventually.

labor to build tranny is 275
parts generally runs from 150-300 for the rebuild.

this is what he told me, and i think he charges 250-300 to pull it, that's for fwd, maybe more for awd but you would really have to check with him. you drop if off with him and he calls you and tells you what it needs and how much it'll be.

Man pull it yourself. It only takes 2.5hrs to pull the whole motor/tranny.
