Default NA-T kit help...

so yeah these may seem like newbie questions but they are, what i wanna know is if you guys were going to put a kit no an NA talon (2g) what would you go with....would it be more price effective (especially since i already have a 14b from a DSM) to build a kit from parts, or would a kit be better, i was reading up on 2gnt.com and there were several things like piping, and the FMU and what not that they ended up replacing in their kits because they sucked. what i wanna know is would i be better off just acquiring the components seperately, or is that just not cost effective...figuring that the most ill probably wanna run (until the internals get built) is about 7 psi..... i woulda asked there, but i know most of the people here so i trust your opinions more. and you guys are just flat out knowledgable....thanks in advance..

Thing is though, most of the guys here are 4g63 guys. Two totally different platforms. I know alot of the guys over at 2gnt.com actually have the kits, so I'd think they would be able to best help you being they've got hands on experience. Alot of them are actually smarter than one might think.

Just telling you what most everybody on this forum will tell you; It would be more cost effective to to sell your 2g nt and buy a turbo'd 2g.

Assuming you have the 420a and not the SOHC 2.4L, Hahn Racecraft makes good kits. They are not cheap though. I've ridden in a few of the cars with their "Super 16g's" and they are damn quick.

Putting a GS-t powertrain into a NT car is riddiculus. It is not worth the amount of customization that would be required.

i I know theres a kid in Spring hill who has a turbo 420a, I sold him an intercooler but we never really got into talking about power or anything like that, I just saw that he had a kit on a 420a. But slowboy racing also offers kits for the 420a I think. www.slowboyracing.com Check it out. Hell they sell a turbo kit for a 1.8 so they should have one for the 420a.

This depends on what you want to do with it- if you just want a bit more power in a daily driver, and not a track monster, the 2gnt could work. If you have a welder, decent fabrication skills, and some free time, you could rig up a low-pressure junkyard turbo kit on pretty much anything inexpensively. You should probably shell out on the manifold instead of trying to diy, and you usually have to run an external wastegate to keep the boost low enough. I'm no 2gnt expert, but 5 psi non-intercooled with a 1g bov on custom piping, one of of those crappy 8:1 fmu's, and that 14b modified for use with an external would probably be what he's looking for, right? The biggest expenses would be the wastegate and the manifold- they have manifolds flanged for mitsu turbos, right?

So far the best advice in this thread was to do your research at 2gnt- this is mostly a 4g63 forum. Just from what I know about typical nt-t projects, though, I would only do it if you can do it yourself and do it on the cheap. When the engine is the limiting factor, throwing a big expensive turbo kit at it is not going to give you a good bang:buck ratio.

Bang:buck ratio is pretty good already lol...mint condition picked up for under 3k 97...not too bad, and got a 95TSi running (about all i can say for it) auto tranny, thrown in with it.
