even new rotors cost maybe $25-35 each. you can get front and rear brakes, rotors and labor for maybe 350.00 that includes liftime warranty on pads. PEPBOYS

Hey man, I had the same problem. That grinding noise in one of my front brake pads and it was gouging the rotor. Definetly shop around, I took mine to Just Brakes as well and they came back and listed just about every brake component as worn or bad. Gave me a quote of around $600 for everything and I laughed at them. So then they negotiated. When all was said and done they ended up replacing both front rotors, front and rear pads, front calipers, and a 4 wheel brake alignment or something. Cost $400. I had them give me the old stuff and half of it didn't even look bad. I think I got ripped off, but I was kind of backed into a corner being this car is my only transportation and the car was barely driveable (grinding REALLY bad). If you're able to shop around, I would recommend it. I considered buying the parts myself and doing it (like someone mentioned) but I realized there's alot more to your brake system then you think, not to mention special tools you need. I think it would be smarter to have it done professionally, especially if you don't have extensive experience in the field...there's alot that could go wrong, in which case you're going to be paying for a professional to fix your mistakes and do it all over in the end anyways.
