I just got my motor back from the shop on tuesday and last night I started to hear tapping coming from around cylinder 1 area. The faster I revved, the faster the tapping. Could this be a lifter issue???

 

yes that could be a lifter ,but rule of thum is that faster your rev and if it get louder it could be rod bearings! but i dont know unless i was there good luck

 

Well it just happened last night and this morning and on the way back to the place where I got my rebuild done, the CEL came on. It didnt get louder just faster with acceleration. Good thing the work is under warranty LOL.

 

Have you lost any oil pressure? And how loud is it?

 

No Oil pressure loss at all. Found out it was the lifters tapping and that is getting fixed now. THe CEL went off cause the EGR Valve needed to be replaced. Which I need to get. Other than that there are no other problems. Thanks for the info guys.

 

Yo that sound probably isnt a lifter... lifters tick more than TAP... and if it got that loud... it is a ROD BEARING... my 3000gt did that... I hoped for the best (lifter) but it was a knock...loud TAP... and it was my bearings... (3000gt engine rebuild $,$$$) DSM ($$$) so don't worry too much... it's not expensive.
