Default Wiring Harness: Compatibility, cost

I've done quick searches on a few boards and haven't found the info, and I'm in a bit of a rush, so I'm asking.

My wiring harness is shot. Largo offered to rewire the whole thing working off of some wiring diagrams I have, but the thing is so fucked up that I wouldn't wish the job on him. Major melting/smoking, rewiring, pointless wiring, all sorts of confusing stuff, rewired from stock in many places, just a horrible mess.

I want to buy an entire new harness from headlights to reverse lights and just swap it in. What cars can I swap it with? Does it have to be another 92 Laser AWD with the exact same options, etc, or will any 1st gen turbo harness work?

Second question: how much should it cost? I'm afraid to ask what it would cost new from tallahasse mitsu or conicelli, I'm guessing 300 bucks (still have to get a price quote). There's a 1g turbo (that's all the info I got) harness listed on nabr as "best offer", missing part of the headlight wiring and cut off behind the front seats. If I could use it, how much is a fair offer? I was thinking 20 bucks plus shipping from Wisconsin.

On my 2G, I was quoted $800 by satan for the entire wiring harness.

I am doing it myself, but instead of doing it myself, my friend Patrick- goes by "Largo" on this board- very helpfully volunteered to do it instead. Also, I'll ask just to clarify, when you say "junk car", would this junk car have to be a 1992 Plymouth Laser AWD with the same options as I have, or could it be any first-gen turbo 91-94 junk car? That bit of info would help greatly.

Ouch... what a bunch of rip-off con-artists.
