Default tech problems

Hey... I have some questions... i might be purchasing a GS-T for really really really cheap and these are the two problems on the car.... can any DSM guru's tell me what is wrong and how much it'll be to fix it... thanks in advance guys!!!

"Transmission: first gear is shot , you cannot start in first at all, it just pops it out of gear, thats about it, so i'm not possitive what it is. some people have said it might just need a new speed sensor, they siad that causes the trans to go into "safe mode" and run kind of half assed.

engine: at about 4000 to 4500rpm the car will buck, i changed the spark plugs and wires and that didn't really help much. it sounds like there might be a boost leak or maybe it's hitting fuel cut, again i'm not sure.

the car is drivable to an extent; however, that 4000rpm deal kind of limits the higher speed at which you can cruise on the hwy. please just let me know as soon as we can work out the dates. the title is clear w/ no leans and good to go. thanks for your response."

the car is a 97 GS-t... and it is a 5-speed.... i have some mechanical abilities... but if it needed tranny work or actually hard core engine work I would definitely take it to a professional.... and This is not my current car... but Might be buying it for a very very good price.... but just wondering whether the good price is worth the cost to fix.... lemme know if you know what is wrong and what it would cost me... thanks

Hey if you need someone to work on it i can do it for you if you want. Check the ECU it could be bad or going bad. My galant had the same bucking problem right before the ecu died so that could be a possiblility.

My ECU did a bunch of Weird stuff before it went too...that could be the problem

You have not said how many miles are on the car.

Trannys are not cheap, and 97's have more of a chance to crankwalk than some other years.
