ok, so i was incomplete in my statement in saying that the car needs to remove its speed cut and have a ton of power to get there, sue me, the point is and remains, that on STOCK 7500 RPM REV LIMIT, AND STOCK 5TH GEAR FINAL, A 2G FWD WILL DO APPROX 178 MPH....that is all

true....in fact i think 90% is being generous, 170+ is hauling ASS, im not really inclined as far as being able to figure out what gearing = what mile per hour, but knew from experience (not just my own) that a GST will top out that high.....my question is.....how fast will it go on an 8500 rpm limit?

A 2G FWD goes 135mph, it has a speed limiter, without the speed limiter somewhere around 150mph. With lots of power around 175 on the rev limiter. Without rev limit or with different gearing the sky is the limit. Basiclly most 2gs can only do 135mph and the rest all do different speeds depends on the mods.
BTW stock DSM rims are 6.5" wide. do you have a photo of the damaged ones?

BTW stock DSM rims are 6.5" wide. do you have a photo of the damaged ones?
No pictures of any rims were included. I may have missed where a damaged one would have been mentioned.
If gearing and hp don't matter what does?
I'm a little fuzzy on what makes a cars gearing/ hp affect how fast a car can go, and is one of the main reasons I posted this topic.
I'm pretty sure the speed limiter is 130mph on a fwd 2g because mistubushi put crappy h rated tires on it. Who knows..what do I know, this does not matter either, everyone is going to remove the speed limiter and use better tires.

So far the highest I've had my laser up to is 130. It pulls hard to 120 but then that 7500 rpm shift to 5th and it doesn't pull at nearly the same rate, which is why I got out of it before hitting the usual quoted 140 mph top speed on a near stock 1g awd.
I was just guesstimating, but if I got the TMO stg 3 knockoff from ebay, and had more mods, and was crazy enough to run all the way up to 7800 rpm in 5th (7800 is the best figure I've been able to find for a reasonably safe max rpm with the stock valvetrain, and the stg 3 chip raises the rev limiter to 8000), I guessed that I would be going just over 160 mph. Is that about right?
