Do you see anything especially notable about this pic?
Sean pointed this out to me the other day. and he said it like "If he does this, so should you!" or, perhaps, more like "if he doesnt need this, neither do you!"
Id actually be surprised if anyone can pick out what im talkin about

btw, can you guess who's car this is w/o looking at the http URL?

ok, it's sheps car, but what exactly are you getting at?
he doesn't use an ecu......... does that mean you shouldn't use an ecu also?
if you're referring to the wastegate I volunteer to be the first to shoot you in the foot, as to save you the hastle.

welp, since you already aggrevated me w/ your high-and-mighty attitude in your post and you already shot yourself in the foot, ill let you know exactly what im getting at.
Btw, there is no ECU pictured above so i dont know where how you think im referring to an ECU in the first place
. Oh, and he DOES use an ECU, its a Pro-EFI4 standalone: exactly what the "new" AEM EMS units are based off of.
anywho...
Since everyone brags about tapping the Oil feed line off the oil filter housing, and how its clean, cool oil and how everyone should do it: im showing this.
You dont have to have the oil feed from the Oil filter housing. In fact, if you have a BB turbo, you shouldnt take it off the oil filter. BB cartridges wont handle over 60psi i beleive.
So, i dont want people lookin at sheps car and saying "well if he uses the stock oil feed location on the head w/ his car, then i should use it on my 20G"
which is erroneous; with a wick-type bearing cartridge, they are in fact better off w/ the RRE-style Oil line tapped into the oil filter housing.
But, if they have a BB turbo like shep, they would want to run it off the stock location, but would be wise to tap in an Inline filter.
thanks for playing.

sorry to bust your bubble but that's old snooze and has been discussed a hundred times over. I was actually hoping you had something new and interesting to discuss.
search the tampa dsm or orlando dsm threads for any topics on turbo oil feed, and note the dates. No one feeds off the filter housing anymore because with removed balance shafts the oil pressure is TOO HIGH and people were having problems blowing out seals
the point of the ecu being that he is not running a vpc/piggy back ecu setup. Can you get away with pro-efi, AEM standalone, a haltech, or a technomotive setup? I doubt it......... there is a lot involved in setting up a standalone, and 90% ofthem that amatuers attempted to setup failed miserably, to the point that the car ran exponentially worse than it did on it's cumbersome hindering ecu and piggy back computer setup.
where did I shoot myself in the foot?

i just said. dont you pay attention?
There is no ECU shown anywhere in that pic. Its quite a simple premise; No ECU shown=ECU not the topic. a stand alone IS an ECU. a VPC piggyback still relies on an ECU as well, albeit, a stock ECU. i dont need a standalone on any of my cars cuz im not shooting for single-digit ET's. im satisfied w/ 12's and an Emanage or SAFC and Datalogger.
And i frequent DSMtalk all the time, I know the issue has been discussed all the time. thats not the point genious. This is TampaRacing, and it has NOT been discussed a million times.
I dont limit myself to locally-based DSM boards, i try to get points of views and input from people all over the country. Get on DSMtalk and youll see what i mean.
and i guess since no one feeds off the oil filter housing, i should send an email to RRE and tell them not to produce/offer that oil line anymore cuz its a waste of bandwidth on their site and is contributing to "blown" turbine shaft oil seals.... oh, and i can be an internet smart-ass too, see...
Im right and youre wrong, if you disagree w/ me, youre still wrong.

flubyux2, you are the one that posted "Id actually be surprised if anyone can pick out what i'm talkin about" as if we are dumb and could never find or understand such a complex change on the car.
I run my oil feed from the head; does that mean I am special too? I also run a filter on the feed line, am I more specialer. I will probably put a resister in the line with the filter, will I be more specialerer?
DSMTalk is know for intelligent people
From that pic there are MANY things that he does not have that you could have been referring to. I mean the man has no power steering, battery(I know it is in the car), AC, AC Fan, MAS(I know it has a stand alone and uses a map sensor and RPM based fuel control), Air Filter, and much more. I could throw up a pic of my under hood and tell everyone that they can't figure out what I don't have to have changed just as easily.
