I have a highly mod. 95 RX-7 and all of a sudden it wont go into to reverse no matter what I do. I either need to get a sycronizer or a racing tranny. Does any one know what I should do or where I could get a new or used racing tranny?????

 

I drove a car once that didn't go into reverse. Know how embarassing it is to pull into a parking spot that isn't level, and can't back out, and can't push the car out? Did that at USF. Not fun, when everyone is slowing down for my spot, only to find out I need help pushing the car out of the spot.

 

does it grind when putting in reverse? have u tried putting it in reverse while car is off? have u tried forcing it into gear?
lol i know constant 8 or 9k shifts will do that eventually. i have already went through one tranny. gears either go out all at once or all together from what i have seen. lol my old one slowly caught the virus....
spread from 3rd to 4th then to 2nd and right when i thought first was infected......i replaced the tranny with a junk yard tranny.
sorry i couldnt help u but if u were to rebuild the syncro... it would be better to just go ahead and rebuild the whole tranny.if not that racing tranny will prolly run u a few g's when a rebuild will get ya for a few hundred at the most.

LOL.... i know what u mean.. my dad had to do that all the time but it was his ignition that was the culprit... had to pop the clutch just to start lol...
well my car had its series of having to push start...lol lets not get into that ...alot of bruises and a blown engine is all i got outta that ... just think.... being half asleep leaving ur girlfriend's house at 12pm to get into ur nice cozy bed but ur car floods out and u have to push that 2500 lb car down the road countless number of times before u get it to start... damn it sux

synchro is probably bad, or the shifting fork might have a problem.

 

Its as if its like blocked off there is no grinding. I as if it wont budge. Ive tried everything.

 

IF IT WERE THE SHIFT FORK IT WOULD BE FUCK THE OTHER GEARS TOO... SO RULE THAT OUT... sorry for caps...
i say take it out and take it to a tranny shop...
itll be cheaper if u take it out urself... have them put top of the line syncros and what not..

G&S racing out of ocala should be able to help you with your tranny situation! Look them up.

 

You might want to check the shifter bushings. My 86's reverse went bad pulled the tranny and nothing was wrong. Put it back in still no reverse. Changed the bushing and had reverse back.
