realistically if i was going to do a lsx swap i would find me a nice 89-91 convertible. convertibles have a much more rigid and stronger chassis. almost everything in twice a thick(core support,firewall,extra bracing on front subframe and tranny tunnel) then put either a 8.8",9" or t2 rearend in it. Then for more rigidity i would add a full weld in cage so you don't twist the chassis launching it.
really to make the car nice and reliable your going to need to do some chassis work, your planning on putting a engine in a car that makes more torque stock than most rotaries will ever. so the chassis itself isn't built to be the strongest albeit it is light though.

You might want to mention which generation you're talking about, but since FDs are all that matter, I'll assume that.
Looks: '94-'95 saw significant improvements compared to the '93. The interior plastics got a different finish that was slightly textured. It looks a bit more modern, but most importantly, it was MUCH more scratch resistant, and will last longer and maintain its semi-gloss finish a lot longer. Finding detailed pictures will help, but in person there's a night and day difference between a '93 and a later one. Also, '94-'95 have a passenger side airbag, which I think makes the dash look nicer. The exterior paint was reportedly made more chip-resistant, as well. Last thing to look for is the touring/PEP/PEG items, such as fog lights, sunroof, rear wiper, front lip, lack of rear spoiler, etc. You'd be surprised how these small things can change the look of the car.
Motor: It doesn't matter for the purpose of the swap, but they were all the same motor from '93-'95. They all sucked.
Suspension: The FDs are all doubl wishbone front and rear, not the case with earlier 7s. The only suspension differences were with the R1 ('93) and R2 ('94+), that got stiffer springs, shocks, and sway bars ('93 for those), as well as a front strut bar. Since most owners change all of that, it doesn't really matter.
Reliability: All the same, they all suck. This will be fixed with the swap.
